About Wonky Rooster

Hey, we are Jaz (Wonky) & Roo (Rooster) -  A nature loving mother & daughter duo living in the West Midlands.

Art and creativity is our way of capturing the inspiration that nature provides us with every day.

Roo does it by painting semi-realistic birds, but other animals do creep in from time to time.
Her passion is for wetland birds, which is easy to see in her art. As an aspiring Ornithologist she uses her painting as a way of studying the bird and its behaviour in more detail.

I explore art in a much more chaotic way.
I never stick to one medium or particular focus for long before another idea drags me in different direction. One month I'm obsessed with Frida and portraits, another it's beetles or ceramics. Life is too short to stick to one medium!
Every one of them is done with an injection of colour though, so there is that thread connecting it all at least.

Check out the gallery for some examples of our work or follow us on Instagram for our latest pieces. Alternatively you can often find us at Kings Heath Art Market where Roo has a stall - latest market dates are above.

Enjoy having a look around, thanks for stopping by

Jaz (Wonky)

Hi I'm Jaz,
I am a compulsive creative and can not go a day without making something - it doesn't matter what, I just need to create!
I work in many medias from ceramics to embroidery and acrylics.
My inspirations are the patterns and colours of global folk and mid century art, and the wonders of nature.

Roo (Rooster)

Hey, I'm Roo!
I do art as a side hobby, often producing 2-5 works a month. My main medium is acrylic, and I paint on canvases and acrylic paper (to place in frames) and recently I have found a liking for painting on wooden discs. My goal is to share my love for birds and nature in general by painting lesser-known species, alongside some familiar faces that you can connect with!
